2025 Ford Maverick – Ford has updated its popular Maverick compact pickup truck for the 2025 model year with styling changes, a revised powertrain, improved technology and a new model focused on performance. Here’s what you need to know about the 2025 Maverick.

Although not a clean redesign, the Maverick has a new exterior with a revised front end, including a sporty bumper and bodywork to the grille surround and headlight assemblies. Each Maverick trim level gets a unique grille design to differentiate the line.

Ford says higher-end Maverick models will come with LED accent lighting, which isn’t available on base trims. The well-equipped Lariat also gets 19-inch alloy wheels, while the Tremor passenger gets 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in orange accents and all-terrain wheels.

The Black Package is available as an optional extra and includes a black roof, black Ford badges and 19-inch wheels finished in gloss black.

The Maverick’s interior design remains largely unchanged for the 2025 model year, but a mid-cycle refresh brings new materials and colors.

As before, the XL remains the entry point to the Maverick lineup. The XLT is the most popular Maverick trim, with the Lariat at the top of the range and the Tremor sitting at the top of the hierarchy.

The Maverick’s base lineup has changed several times, and Ford is replacing it once again in 2025. The Maverick’s standard powertrain is currently a 2.5-liter inline-four hybrid setup paired with an electric motor. variable automatic transmission. The latest generation has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder. Depending on the program, the Turbo gets an eight- or seven-speed automatic.

The default configuration of the Maverick is front-wheel drive, but the hybrid drivetrain can be equipped with all-wheel drive (AWD) for the first time in the history of the line. Ford says the AWD system improves the Maverick’s traction on a variety of surfaces, and when the 4K Tow Package is selected, it allows the truck to tow up to 4,000 pounds, including small campers and personal watercraft.

Official fuel economy figures won’t be released until August 2024, but Ford says the hybrid Maverick should achieve 42 mpg city and 40 mpg city when equipped with the AWD system.

Another change for the 2025 model year is the addition of a new Tremor trim model. Once an option package on Lariat trucks, the Tremor is now the only Maverick trim level. It’s off-road with standard AWD, a locking rear differential, skid plates, a higher ride height, transmission cooling and all-terrain tires. The Tremor’s only engine is a 2.0-liter turbo-four.

The Lobo is a sport-tuned version of the Maverick that prioritizes on-road performance. To this end, its suspension is lowered front and rear. The roof of the Lobo sits a little lower than other Maverick models, about an inch.

Other equipment options include standard all-wheel drive with torque vectoring to the rear axle, dual-piston front brake calipers carried over from the European-market Ford Focus ST, and upgraded engine and transmission cooling components from the 4K Towing Package.

The sports car also has Lobo Drive, which Ford says increases the truck’s cornering power by reducing understeer. A 2.0-liter turbo-four is the only engine for the Maverick Lobo, and it’s mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission rather than the eight-speed included in other trims.

The Maverick Lobo looks the part thanks to a revised fascia, black-tinted roof, tinted rear bumper, rocker moldings and 19-inch wheels finished in gloss black.

Inside, the traditional Street theme continues with Grabber Blue and Electric Clay accent stitching on the seats and Lobo-patterned front seats.

All 2025 Mavericks ship with Ford’s Sync 4 infotainment system, which runs on a new 13.2-inch touchscreen, up from last year’s 8.0-inch screen. The new camera is compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. An 8.0-inch digital gauge cluster is also standard for 2025, as is an over-the-air 5G modem.

To help with maneuvering in rough terrain, Ford has added a new surround camera system to the Maverick’s list of standard features. An external camera system can provide a split-screen view of objects in front of and behind the truck, as well as views between vehicles.

Additional standard equipment includes automatic forward and automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist and automatic LED high beams. Higher-end Lariat and Tremor trims also come with adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane keeping assist and license plate recognition.

For towing the Maverick, Ford’s Pro Trailer Hitch Assist and Pro Trailer Backup Assist packages are offered. These systems are designed to make trailer compression and backup easier. Both are standard on Lariat and Tremor trims.

Full pricing has yet to be announced, but Ford says the Maverick XL will list for just $28,000, including a $1,595 price tag. That’s a $2,375 jump from last year’s base price and $6,400 more than Ford charged for the standard 2022 Maverick.

Order books for the 2025 Ford Maverick are now open, with retail sales scheduled for late 2024.

A 2.5L hybrid engine is standard with optional AWD and produces 191 horsepower. The optional 2.0L EcoBoost engine produces 238 horsepower and is available only in AWD.
